Get Back To The Basics!

What are your new year resolutions? Is it to make more money with your business? Is it to hit those numbers this year? Or, on a personal note, is it to lose weight and get in shape? Maybe you have a resolution to get a life coach to organize your life and business. Well, it's 2019 and that means it's the start of Q1! It's time to get back into social media shape with your content this year! Like your body, your business goes through changes, and sometimes you need to have some annual maintenance like you would with your body.

Time to Plan!

Q1, especially January, is the perfect time to plan your content for the rest of the year. Planning your content can save you so much time and energy. Take a week or two with your marketing team and come up with a good social media content plan for this year. Having trouble coming up with content? Here are some ideas:

  • Holiday or special days for each month. (Did you know there's a national donut day?)

  • Company holidays (do you have a special anniversary for the company coming up?)

  • Client/customer testimonials

  • Quotes that reflect your mission statement

  • Behind the scenes videos for FB/IG/SC Stories.

  • Live Video Q&A

  • Polls

  • Contest and/or giveaways (do this once every 2-3 months)

  • Videos that answer the question "how does this help the customer/client?"

Create Your Content!

Use old and new images or videos for your social media pages. You can even create new pieces of content out of the old content that you already have. Scared being in front of the camera? Do a mock session, so you can get all of your nerves out. If you are doing a live session, get a friend to ask you random questions. Don't have a lot of time? Set a time during the week (this week, since it's the beginning of the month) and take all the photos and videos you need to for the rest of the quarter. You can edit it all within that week and schedule it out.

Where to Publish?

Great question! Do you have a blog? Great then publish it there and create new bits of content of that blog post throughout your social media pages. Do you have a podcast? What do you talk about there? Make a video series about it and post free snippets on your social media pages. You can post all the content you made ahead of time on your social media pages and the stuff talk about on your podcast, weekly as well.

What About Ads?

Let's say that you want to promote your content, but you don't want to spend a whole lot of money. There's a lot of ways you can do this on Facebook, but the easiest way is to boost. However, if you want a little more bang for your buck, you can go to Ads Manager and create an engagement ad (I will be doing a blog post about Facebook Ads soon). An engagement ad provides a little more variety than a boost does and you can track it better.

Speaking of Tracking...

Have you installed your Facebook Pixel yet? If you haven't, please do it NOW! I cannot stress how important it is to have one on your website. Doing what I do every day, I see websites all the time and it honestly alarms me of how many websites DON'T HAVE A FACEBOOK PIXEL. Why is it important? You can track all the people who go to your website from your page, and create a lookalike ad from the traffic you get to your website! If you can't see how valuable that is, then I have no idea what to say to you.
