Going Live: Why It's Important For Your Brand

Getting live footage of our everyday lives has been a huge part of social media over the past three years. Live video allows users to capture spur of the moment part of the user's day to day and it is most likely stuff that they would never post as part of their normal feed. SnapChat, Instagram Stories, and Facebook have features which documents day to day lives into a "live feed" and it's all gone within 24 hours. While some would argue that it feeds into a culture of people who can't get off of their phones and constantly post on social media, others will argue that it plays into any major corporate brand's favor in getting exclusive with their audience on their services or products.

More Favor to Video Content?

However getting a live audience to get engaged with you is becoming more of the norm, as many social media sites such as Facebook are giving pages with live video more reach than those who don't. As I have seen for many years on the internet, more people are more likely to engage with visual content than with content that is not visual, like text for example. Visual content with minimal text is the rule for images on Facebook boosts. While, I love boosting images on Facebook, it's not the way to go anymore. Video is.

What Does This Have to do with Me?

Video is becoming such a hot commodity in the space, and people are far more likely to share video or even gifs of video than a regular image. Mark Zuckerberg has said this himself in the press release he wrote on Facebook "Video and other public content have exploded on Facebook in the past couple of years" and that "there's more public content than posts from your friends and family" which everyone seems to be panicking about. All this means for business pages is for people to refocus their business pages. What is good for your brand? How can you translate it into a short video? Is there a Facebook Live I can do? These are all questions you should be asking yourself at this time, because times are changing in social media.
